THYMUS GLAND

The thymus gland is vital for regulating immunity. It produces T cells, a critical component of the immune system that fights infections, cancers, and autoimmune disease in the body. Thymus is a pinkish-gray gland with lobulated skin. At birth, it weighs around 13 to 15 grams, and by maturity, it reaches 35 to 45 grams. Weight loss due to involution causes it to weigh 25g at 25 years old, 15g or less at 60 years old, and 6g on average at 70 years old.

However, the thymus shrinks throughout life in a process called thymic involution. This begins early, as thymic tissue loses 1-3% of its mass per year starting after the first year of life. By age 75, the thymus is only about 5-10% of its original size, leading to a 95% reduction in T cell output.

What is thymus gland?

As the thymus involutes, the body makes fewer T cells and immunity declines. This thymic involution leads to:

  • Reduced T cell production and weakened immunity

  • 10X more infections in seniors versus young people

  • Higher risk of including cancers, infections, and autoimmune disorders

  • People over 65 had 4X the COVID-19 death rate

  • Accelerated ageing process and earlier onset of age-related illnesses

Thymic Involution Accelerates Ageing

We were particularly intrigued by certain physiological conditions, such as pregnancy and infections, where the thymus showed signs of rejuvenation or reversal. This posed a vital question: could we harness this understanding to develop a solution that might promote thymus health and possibly slow down or reverse the process of involution?

To find an answer, our team examined into thousands of scientific papers, clinical data, dissecting intricate biochemistry processes, and sifting through countless natural compounds with potential benefits. This comprehensive exploration was not just about identifying individual ingredients but understanding their synergistic effects when combined in.
