Across more than 50 years in global pharmaceutical R&D, biotechnology and company building, Dr David Brown has helped move medicines from discovery towards clinical proof. Since 2022, he has brought that judgement to AVIX as an independent scientific advisor focused on T-Booster and Green Antibiotics. AVIX Water is outside his advisory remit.
Dr David Brown brings more than 50 years of experience across pharmaceutical research, biotechnology and company building. His career includes senior work with ICI Pharmaceuticals/Zeneca, Pfizer, Glaxo Wellcome and Hoffmann-La Roche, followed by biotechnology leadership including President and Chief Executive of Cellzome AG.
At Pfizer, he was named a co-inventor on the patent for Viagra and led the programme from early research through proof of clinical efficacy in human trials. He also played a pivotal role in the discovery of Relpax, a treatment for migraine.
At Roche in Switzerland, he served as a director overseeing approximately 2,000 staff working in drug discovery across research sites in the United States, Europe and Asia. He later helped found biotechnology ventures including Crescendo Biologics and Healx — experience that gives him an unusually broad view of how scientific ideas succeed, fail and mature.
Dr Brown works with Dr Sheikh to pressure-test the programme's scientific logic, guide development thinking and keep a credible route from screening and in-vitro evidence towards controlled animal validation and partnership.
Dr Brown brings external scrutiny from UK AMR work and global-health drug development, helping Green Antibiotics stay scientifically disciplined and translation-focused.
Since 2022, Dr Brown has advised AVIX Pharmaceuticals in the UK, working closely with Dr Sheikh across science, development thinking and commercial readiness. The value of the relationship is independence as much as experience: he provides challenge at decisions that affect scientific credibility.
Within Green Antibiotics, that means helping the programme move from laboratory evidence towards the next validation gates without allowing the commercial narrative to outrun the science.
